Brinkmann in the Community—Giving Back to Waukesha County
Oconomowoc and Waukesha County have been our home for decades, and we consider it our responsibility to give back to the community we grew up and raised our families in.
Mike was in FFA (Future Farmers of America) for four years during high school. His uncle John was also a FFA member and had the same great teacher—Ms. Waite. Our school district bought a new "school farm" property and the FFA needed a place to store their crop signs and other farm related items, so they came to Mike and John for some help.
We stripped the existing topsoil, installed the culvert and gravel at a discounted rate, and a former FFA member built the pole shed. We returned later and did the final grading of gravel in the parking lot, spread the topsoil in the swale around the shed, and planted grass seed. This was Mike’s summer Supervised Agricultural Entrepreneurship (SAE).
We continue to support the FFA and any projects that they need help with—along with all veterans, churches, and schools in our community.
Both of my grandparents came to town in the 1950’s to settle in this area and raised their children here. I have also lived in Oconomowoc my entire life, so when I found out the Jr. Women’s Club was looking for help installing a play area for our children, I was beyond excited to be a part of it. My company volunteered to prepare the large site by stripping the existing sod and soil prior to the other crews beginning their portion of the work.
After the beautiful playground was installed, we then came back and did the finish grading around the grounds. Deluxe grass seed, fertilizer and covering hay was spread to promote the restoration of the grass. I was very proud to be a part of this wonderful community oriented project. We have always supported our hometown that we work in with discounts to all the churches or other community organizations that need snowplowing, grading or landscape supplies. I will continue to give back to my hometown that has provided my family a great place to live and raise our children.
